I’m an American photographer in Ireland, and I’m transitioning to using mainly film at weddings instead of digital. I was a little bit nervous about using all film for one of my own weddings in Ireland, and wanted to tag along with a film shooter to see how they approached the wedding day. Since I’d be visiting family in Colorado this past August, I contacted some film photographers there to see if I could second shoot a wedding with them. Sara Hassdedt, a film photographer in Denver, was just a star. So friendly in emails, and answered every silly question I asked. We had a Skype interview, and after that she booked me in to 2nd shoot a wedding with her in Breckenridge while I was on vacation! She didn’t have to do this, especially as she knew I might be moving to Colorado and would open a business too. She is just a genuinely kind and nice person, and someone who I consider a friend now. I’m very thankful to her for her kindness and trust.ReplyCancel

Last month I had surgery to remove a lump in my breast (i found out it wasn’t cancerous, Thank god!) but throughout the whole process of me finding out, leading up to getting surgery and after the fact, one of my teachers was there for me the whole way. The night I told her was the most emotional night of my life, and I felt extremely weak and vulnerable. She assured me everything was going to be okay and she kept me grounded and positive about the whole situation. Throughout this whole year I have had multiple health issues and they keep occuring. I know now that if I ever need anything, she will be the person that I will always have to lift me up when I am bothered. She has become someone I look up to, a role model to me. and I thank her for that!ReplyCancel

A few years ago, I had just moved to a new town and started a new job when a serious health crisis hit. Being sick and scared of what could happen is never easy, but it felt harder by being in a new place with very little community around for support. The few friends I had made from book club proved incredibly generous and wholehearted people. They cooked us meals, sent cards, dropped off books, and genuinely helped me to feel cared for and loved during the months that passed during this time. I’m forever grateful to them.ReplyCancel

Comparing with others, my story might be much trivial than anyone else’s. In the past year, I fell in and out of love with a same person. Everything was so difficult to me because it was the first time I learnt to cherish a “relationship”. I flew 13 hours to Europe to meet him but I could only see him for two days. I’ve done many things wrong in that period, but he actually has made me a better person. I’ve grown a lot because of him.ReplyCancel

My mother was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma and melanoma over the course of the past year. It hasn’t been an easy time for either one of us. As much as I’ve been there for her, she’s also been there for me – we’ve supported each other through this year. She sends me a card every week, and I bring her fresh things from the farmer’s market and pick up her prescriptions.
    We help each other out.ReplyCancel

What a great idea! I haven’t actually shot with this film so I’d love to give it a try.

I have been helped in so many ways over the last year, but the biggest was when 100+ people came together and donated to my Morocco project and helped me actualize a dream. HUGE! I can’t thank them enough. 🙂ReplyCancel

This year has been an incredible one filled with many ups and downs. I would not have made it through without my wonderful husband. He gave me a new life, one where I feel hopeful about the future and good about myself.ReplyCancel

I’ve seen miraculous things this year – I’m a mom to a son who has autism –
I was fortunate to find 5 other autism moms in my town – once we connected, life has never been the same – power in love, acceptance and compassion is truly miraculous.
I’ve been on the giving and receiving end.
    Love truly does move mountains.ReplyCancel

This past Friday, a friend asked if I would be willing to take some photos of her kids as a birthday present to her husband. I set up a quick in home natural light “studio” in my house and we were ready to go. I loved the spunk her little girl had, so much character […]
